Chrysalis Chiltern Alcantara Field Coat – Field Olive

A refined interpretation of the classic English field coat, the Chiltern by Chrysalis is presented here in soft Alcantara rather than traditional tweed. The understated Field Olive colour gives the coat a beautifully muted, almost suede-like appearance, complemented by warm brown Alcantara inside the collar. The result is distinctly British in character, yet cleaner and more contemporary than the traditional tweed version.

A LIMITED HUNTWAY FIND
Selected from Chrysalis’ private collection of sample pieces in England, this waistcoat is available in strictly limited numbers. The sizes shown are the only pieces available – once sold, they cannot be restocked.

Designed for the field and for changing British weather, the Chiltern combines its elegant exterior with a waterproof and breathable membrane concealed within the construction. The body is quilted for additional warmth, while the sleeves are intentionally left unquilted to retain freedom of movement and avoid unnecessary bulk.

The raglan construction and articulated pivot sleeves are designed to allow comfortable movement through the shoulders and arms. Inside the sleeves, knitted storm cuffs provide another layer of protection against cold air and changing weather. These functional elements are characteristic of the Chiltern’s traditional field-coat construction. 

Two large bellows pockets provide generous storage, while the separate upper handwarmer pockets allow cold hands to be slipped in without disturbing the contents below. An internal zipped security pocket keeps smaller essentials safely stored.

At the front, a substantial zip sits beneath a buttoned storm placket, creating a clean traditional silhouette while providing additional protection from the elements. The high collar can be worn open or raised when the weather turns, revealing the contrasting brown Alcantara inner collar – a subtle detail that beautifully complements the Field Olive exterior.

The Chiltern is a coat designed to be lived in: substantial enough for cold days in the field, yet understated and elegant enough to wear well beyond them. In this unusual Alcantara version, one of Chrysalis’ most established field-coat silhouettes takes on an altogether different character.
