In earlier times the farm women and maids spun the wool into firm threads through the winter. The weaver made cloth of it, and then the magic of the fulling began. To this day original loden is made from wool in the traditional hammer mill, under the work of moisture, soap, heat and friction. Piece by piece a remarkable cloth takes shape, one whose many qualities have fascinated and inspired Gössl from the very beginning. It turns away wind and weather, it breathes, and it sits comfortably against the skin. In traditional dress, its structure and colour remain a mark of quality and lasting worth.
